Sanding Disc Hook and Loop
$37.95
Shopsmiths Aluminum Oxide Sandpaper Discs cut fast, resist loading and last a long time.
These Do-everything Discs are useful for sanding wood and sharpening tools. They are made with a durable, open coat Aluminum Oxide (A/O) abrasive that is fast-cutting and resistant to loading for a longer life.
Their abrasive particles are bonded to a heavy, industrial-grade, paper backing or cloth, then precision cut to an exact 12 diameter for a perfect fit on Shopsmiths 12 Sanding Disc. They come with either self-stick backing or hook & loop backing for quick disc change.
Assorted 6-Disc Package (505843) includes:
 (1) one Coarse/60-grit Disc
 (2) Medium/80-grit Discs
 (3) Fine/100-grit Discs
For the smoothest results in wood, its recommended that you sand your project with a minimum of three available grits, moving from Coarse through Medium and finishing with a Fine Disc. For that reason, its most convenient to have all three grits mounted to individual Shopsmith Sanding Discs (555143) for faster switching between grits.
Disc Sanding Package (505844)
Add this package to your single Sanding Disc. Give your projects a smooth, professional look with this 20-piece sanding package. Extra discs let you have different grits mounted, ready for work. Includes:
 2 steel discs
 6 coarse/60 grit
 6 medium/80 Grit
6 fine/100 Grit stick on A/O sandpaper discs
For Sharpening, depending how "dull" your cutting edge is, you can also use three progressive finer grits. The Coarse/60 Grit is for chip and nick removal. The Medium Grit/80 Grit is perfect for removing the heavy scratch marks on the ground surface. Use the Fine Grit/100 Grit to smooth the ground surface prior to honing with a sharpening stone.
For the quickest abrasive grit change choose the Hook and Loop aluminum oxide abrasives. By mounting the self-stick Conversion Disc on a single Shopsmith Sanding Disc (555143), you can peel away the abrasive you have finished with and place the next finer disc directly on that same disc.
NOTE: Hook and Loop is NOT recommended for Sharpening or Grinding steel tools because the softness of the backing may cause the abrasive to catch the sharp edge of the steel cutting tool.
Note: We advise you to always wear an N95 (NIOSH-Certified) Respirator when sanding to filter out 95% of airbourne particles.
